Richard asks Treasury about consistency of environmental, social and governance objectives with long term goals of pension funds

During Treasury Questions just before Christmas, Richard Fuller MP questioned the Chief Secretary to the Treasury, the Rt. Hon John Glen MP over ESG (environmental, social and governance) objectives.

Speaking after the question, Richard said:

I fully support the Chancellor's recent commitment to include ESG ratings agencies within the regulatory perimeter for pension funds and asked the Minister for assurances that in the guidance, these ESG objectives would be consistent with the long-term actuarial goals of pension funds, to ensure there is sufficient funding available for people retiring in 20-30 years' time.
