As part of the national programme to alter the delivery of COVID-19 vaccinations to resemble more closely the delivery of other vaccinations such as flu, five large vaccination centres in the Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes area will close on 14th December.
These are the centres at:
• Bedford Heights, Manton Lane, Bedford;
• Biggleswade Hospital, Potton Road, Biggleswade;
• Luton Wellbeing Hub, The Mall, Luton;
• Midsummer Place, Milton Keynes;
• Rainbow Pharmacy (Open University), Milton Keynes.
The centres will be available until 14th December for eligible people to grab a jab when out and about, with no appointment needed. As it can take up to two weeks after the jab for the vaccine to offer the maximum protection, there is still time to get protected before the Christmas holiday season.
After the closure of the centres, eligible people will continue to be able to get their vaccinations by booking an appointment with a GP-run clinic or at their local pharmacy. Eligible patients can book an appointment online at nhs.uk or by calling 119, or take up one of the walk-in opportunities, located mainly in community pharmacies.
