Booster for every adult

Richard Fuller MP has welcomed the news that as of Wednesday, all adults aged over 18 years will be able to use the NHS Covid website to book a booster dose for at least 3 months after their 2nd dose

To book an appointment, please visit the NHS website here. Details of local walk-in clinics for booster vaccinations, where an appointment is not required, can be found on the Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes Clinical (BLMK) Clinical Commissioning Group's website here. This page is updated every Monday morning.

Richard Fuller MP:

The Omicron variant is extremely transmissible and while vaccine efficacy against symptomatic infection is substantially reduced against Omicron with just two doses, a third dose boosts protection back up to over 70 per cent.

Vaccines are our best defence against Omicron and I urge everyone to book in today and join the national fight against this virus.

The 15-minute observation period following a vaccination with Pfizer or Moderna has also been temporarily suspended as part of new measures to speed up the booster rollout as part of the government's emergency response to the rapid spread of the Omicron variant. The temporary suspension is being made on the basis of clinical advice that maintaining the 15-minute rule would cause more harm than it can avert because removing it will significantly increase the number of people who can be vaccinated over a short period of time. The risk of a serious allergic reaction after vaccination with the mRNA vaccines is low – around one report per 100,000 vaccine doses – and we now have much more experience with giving these vaccines to millions of people. People are not normally observed for 15 minutes after other vaccinations.
