Last week, Richard attended a 'ground-breaking' event to mark the start of works on a new £2.3million Biggleswade transport interchange hub that will make it easier for people to use public transport for their journeys.
The new bus and rail interchange is being built on unused land owned by Network Rail next to Biggleswade Railway Station and will include bus stops, a bus turning circle and improved pedestrian access. An attractive public space will also be created featuring plants, trees, and a rain garden alongside paved areas and seating.
Richard Fuller MP said:
I was delighted to attend the 'ground breaking' event at Biggleswade Station on Friday as work gets underway on the Transport Interchange. The work is planned to be complete by the end of March 2023 and will create an accessible public transport interchange with three bus stops and a passenger waiting area, improved pedestrian access, improved bus links to and from rail services, an enhanced public space using high quality materials and real-time bus and rail arrival/departure information.
The transport interchange is one of the Biggleswade projects benefiting from £70million of government funding through the Housing Infrastructure Fund.
