Today, the long anticipated Universal studios in Bedfordshire was given the official ‘green light’ from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.

Universal Destinations and Experiences is building its first European theme park and resort in Bedford Borough. Richard believes this is an exciting opportunity for North Bedfordshire that will bring with it growth and the promise of new jobs, significant investment and vital infrastructure improvements that will benefit residents across North Bedfordshire.

Since first learning of the proposal, Richard has been a strong advocate, working with government ministers, Universal executives, and local stakeholders to help secure this historic investment.

In July Universal Destinations and Experiences submitted its formal planning application and opened a public consultation on the proposal.

Today, Richard received a letter from the Secretary of State for MHCLG today confirming planning permission for the theme park at Kempston Hardwick had been granted.

Richard shares his reaction to the news in the above video.

More information about the project can be found here.
