Last month, Richard attended the presentation of the King's Award for Enterprise to Biggleswade-based company, Smith Myers, by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Bedfordshire, Mrs. Susan Lousada.
The King’s Award for Enterprise is the highest official UK award for British businesses, recognising outstanding achievements in innovation, international trade, sustainable development, and promoting opportunity. Smith Myers received the award for its pioneering work in developing the ARTEMIS system, a cutting-edge mobile phone detection and location system (MPDLS) designed to enhance search and rescue operations worldwide.
Richard Fuller MP said:
Smith Myers embodies everything that the King’s Award for Enterprise stands for and I am very proud that a Biggleswade-based company has been recognised for the outstanding ARTEMIS system that has and will continue to save lives all across the globe.
I was invited to try out the flight simulator but anyone who's seen my driving knows that I would have crashed within seconds of takeoff!
