Letter to GTR June 2025

Richard has written to Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) to follow up on the discussions he had with them in Parliament towards the end of last year.

After receiving a growing number of concerns from local residents about delays, cancellations, and skip-stopping affecting Sandy and Biggleswade stations, Richard has asked GTR for a clear update on what’s being done to improve reliability and consistency on the Peterborough line. In his letter addressed to GTR's Network Operations Director and Head of Strategic Planning, Richard refers back to discussions held in Parliament last October and asks for progress on several key areas including ongoing driver shortages, the impact of varying employment terms across the network, and the uncertainty caused by the current franchise contract. He also highlights concerns around the exclusion of Sandy from additional peak-time services, the influence of passenger demand on future timetables, and problems with Sunday services to Horsham. Additionally, Richard requests an update on the promised improvements in how service disruptions are communicated and how GTR have addressed confusion around compensation and the limitations of the Delay Repay scheme.

In addition to this letter, Richard is arranging a follow-up meeting with GTR to continue discussions on improving rail services.
