Just before the end of term, Richard visited St Thomas More Catholic Secondary School with the Speaker of Bedford Borough Council, Tim Caswell, to meet with Year 8 students that had taken part in the Ambassadors of Tomorrow Programme - a student leadership initiative that trains young people to identify community issues and run their own campaigns.
Speaking afterwards, Richard Fuller MP said:
I was impressed by everything I saw and heard and particularly inspired by the students’ commitment and evident enjoyment of the Ambassadors of Tomorrow programme.
The students have demonstrated leadership qualities through a wide range of initiatives including supporting younger pupils through school workshops, raising £300 for Bedford Hospital's Neo-Natal Department and by making a real difference in the local community.
It was especially good to hear how much the students have grown in confidence, resilience and compassion through their participation in the programme.
These projects have included assemblies to primary schools surrounding relevant topics and a charity fundraiser which raised £300 for the neonatal unit at Bedford Hospital.
