Earlier in the summer, Richard visited a Site of Special Scientific Interest in his constituency between Pavenham and Stevington on the Ouse Valley Way walk with local Borough Councillor Dylan Simmons.

Richard Fuller MP said:

Due to the terrain and the presence of a natural spring in the area, the walkway can become very wet and boggy, making it dangerous for walking and resulting in the walkway being closed for long periods in recent years.

I was very interested to meet some of the affected residents including Stevington Environmental Group, representatives from the Ramblers Association and members of both Stevington and Pavenham Parish Councils. The preferred solution is for a new bridge or walkway to be put over the affected land, however, we were told that this would cost upwards of £100,000.

We agreed that we would work closely together to try and find solutions at the national and Borough level that can enable remedial works to put in some form of safer walkway without compromising the SSSI or leading to an exorbitant price tag. We also agreed that an alternative diversionary route would be looked into so that we can tackle this problem from both ends.

I will continue to discuss this matter with residents and Councillors to find the best way forward to address this problem.
