Last week, Richard was pleased to be joined members of Riseley Parish Council and Borough Councillor Martin Towler at the Riseley Water Recycling Centre.
Richard Fuller MP said:
During our visit we saw the journey that sewage takes through the water treatment process from the removal of the 'unflushable' items like baby wipes, through to the end where most of the foulness has been removed.
During the visit Anglian Water informed me that they will soon be adding more sewage treatment measures with the inclusion of phosphate removal. Phosphates in sewage are undesirable because when they enter the river, they can cause side effects like algal bloom which suffocates the river of light, oxygen, and life.
I have already arranged my next visit to an Anglian Water site and look forward to seeing the how the team continue to work to improve their facilities and further reduce the harmful effects of sewage in our rivers.
