On Monday, Richard visited Raynsofrd Church of England Academy in Henlow as part of his visit to schools to encourage debate on climate change ahead of COP26 in November.

Richard Fuller, MP for North East Bedfordshire, said:

I spent a delightful afternoon with the teachers and children of Raynsford CofE Academy in Henlow where I heard some fantastic and innovative ideas from the Eco Warriors, led by Miss Middleton, about how we can fight climate change and all do our bit towards COP26. These included recycling crisp packets and making them into blankets for the homeless; having a recycling point in the community where plastic bottles could be turned into planters; using cardboard and plastic to make toys, like buses and Christmas decorations, and making a worry monster out of old plastic and cardboard that plays music and takes your worries away attached to a board for eco messages so we can all share our ideas on how to be kinder to the planet.

The children’s enthusiasm was fabulous.

It is clear the school, led by Mrs Ashwell, has environmental sustainability at its core and during my visit I saw the new Owlery building which has a grass roof, a heat pump and uses grey water. I was also impressed by the new MUGA sports pitch which is another fantastic facility.

Thank you also to the Year 3s who asked me some great questions about my role as an MP and impressed me with their facts about the Houses of Parliament.
