Last Saturday, Richard visited Hayfield Park - a relatively new development in Bromham - to speak to residents, along with local Councillors, Robert Rigby and Dylan Simmons about issues with the handover by the developer and the quality of the public facilities left behind.
Richard Fuller MP said:
The overwhelming feedback from residents was positive regarding the quality of the homes that they have bought. Less positive was the opinion of the state of the "green" spaces that have been left by the developer. During our visit we saw a number of issues ranging from annoying to dangerous.
The grassy area at the front of the estate has not been planted and has simply been left as barren mud with a few hardy weeds growing in it. The play park, itself not on the plans at all, has been left sealed shut against the village's children because it still contains many building materials and other pieces of litter. The balancing pond is also full of litter and building materials.
But most concerning of all I saw the public footpath on Stagsden Road, just before the bridge over the brook, completely undefended. Any cyclist or running child could end up falling through the gap and go straight into the shallow river full of jagged rocks. It's an accident waiting to happen.
Clearly work still needs to be done, and I am pleased that both Cllr Rigby and Cllr Simmons are committed to working within Council and also liaising with the newly formed Residents' Association to ensure that these improvements are made in a timely manner.
