Last week, Richard issued a Named Day Question to the Department of Transport about the distribution of East West Rail postcards during the 2019 consultation.
The Department responded on 25th May with the following reply:
"The Department has had no specific discussions on the provision of this data; however I am aware that East West Rail Company is in the process of removing any personal details to ensure the data complies with data protection regulations, and will publish it on its website once this process is complete."
In response Richard Fuller, MP for North East Bedfordshire, said:
This is a disgrace and will widen the trust deficit between East West Rail and my constituents.
After multiple requests from constituents over many weeks, I determined that I had to force a response via a Named Day question in Parliament - a public challenge as your democratically elected representative to the bureaucracy to respond. And I, we, get this completely unacceptable reply.
It is clear that East West Rail must now attend to the rapidly declining trust in their plans across Bedfordshire by immediately releasing the information requested from their last consultation; by extending or indeed stalling the current consultation; and by revisiting the scope of this consultation to address the many concerns already raised by my constituents
