Letter to Secretary of State for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs

Richard has written to the Government requesting urgent financial assistance to help with flooding recovery efforts in Bedford Borough and Central Bedfordshire. Following recent unprecedented rainfall, which has caused severe disruption, Richard has asked for emergency funds to support residents and businesses affected by the flooding.

Both Bedford Borough Council and Central Bedfordshire Council have been working tirelessly to manage the situation, but the levels of the rainfall have stretched local resources. With homes flooded, key roads closed, and drainage systems overwhelmed, central government emergency funding is now critical to sustain recovery efforts.

Richard’s letter to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs highlights the pressing need for government intervention to speed up recovery and reduce the long-term impact on the community.
