Richard recently met with the Managing Director of Luton Rising, Nick Platt, and Account Manager, Yvette Evans, to receive an update on the progress of the proposed expansion of London Luton Airport.
The project is currently progressing through the formal Development Consent Order process, the statutory route through which any project deemed to be of national significance must secure approval before development can proceed. A number of environment-related legal challenges remain ongoing, but the airport is addressing these in a methodical manner.
Richard Fuller MP said:
We discussed the importance of reliable regional transport links to the airport to support any future growth. Once again, I raised the issue of fairness. The financial benefits of the airport flow to Luton Council because it sits on their land. Yet communities in North Bedfordshire experience the noise, traffic and pollution, while receiving none of the financial return.
That imbalance is wrong, and I will continue to press for North Bedfordshire residents to receive a fair share of the benefits.

Richard will continue to meet with Luton Rising as the project develops.
