Richard recently wrote to the Transport Secretary regarding the environmental protections included in the East West Rail non-statutory consultation in light of the Chancellor's statement that bats, newts and indeed all ecological considerations were very much secondary to her plans for infrastructure growth. The reply can be read here.
Richard Fuller MP said:
I am extremely disappointed by the platitudinous response from the Rail Minister who singularly failed to answer either of the specific questions I raised. He also neglected to even reference the Chancellor's speech and the consequential impact on East West Rail and all other major infrastructure projects coming down the line.
If such entirely legitimate questions can simply be ignored, I fear that the genuine environmental concerns that many of my constituents have will equally be swatted aside by this government.
