Richard and Huw Merriman, EWR

Earlier this week, Richard met with Huw Merriman MP, the new Rail Minister, to discuss the status of East West Rail.

Richard Fuller MP said:

The new Minister has an excellent grip of his new responsibilities.

Our chat focused on East West Rail and the confused messaging and long delays in this project. I told the Minister, I think fairly, that trust in the East West Rail Company has been completely shot to pieces and the intervention of the Treasury has further muddied the waters.

This was the first in a series of cross government meetings I am holding to defend taxpayers’ money from being frittered away on this now highly dubious project.
