Last week, Richard had an introductory meeting with the new CEO of Bedford College Group, which is made up of colleges across Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire attended by many local students and includes among others, Bedford College, Central Bedfordshire College and Shuttleworth College.
Speaking after the meeting, Richard Fuller MP said,
Bedford College Group is one of the countyβs most positive forces for good β educating thousands of students through apprenticeships, training, A levels and other qualifications.
I spent some time recently catching up with Yiannis Koursis, the Chief Executive of the Group. Yiannis shared with me his commitment to raising educational attainment and the aspiration of all who seek qualifications from the College.
I was delighted as I listened to Yiannis speak about raising the expectations of students about what they could achieve: a place at the top universities, or one of the best apprenticeship programmes, or whatever their next step might be.
Continuing to raise educational attainment is a solid goal and I believe Yiannis will set high expectations for the staff of the Bedford College Group. If my experience of the College over the past decade is any guide, I am confident they will do well.
