I was delighted to meet with Central Bedfordshire and Bedford Borough Youth Parliamentarian Members before the 2025 session of the Youth Parliament.
The Youth Parliament has been running for over 25 years with elections held every 2 years in over 70% of Parliamentary constituencies. It is made up of more than 300 young people aged between 11 and 18 years, elected as Members of Youth Parliament (MYPs) to represent the views of their peers. It provides opportunities for young people to bring about social change through meaningful representation and campaigning.
The UKYP campaign on a range of issues that they believe represent the views of young people across the UK, from votes at 16, minimum wage equality, free public transport for under 18s, and period dignity.
