Recently, Richard held a meeting with representatives of Northill Parish Council and Biggleswade Town Council to discuss how to make crossing the A1 safer for pedestrians including school children and the disabled community.
Richard Fuller MP sadi:
It is not right that people have to cross four lanes of 60mph traffic on foot to go to the shops or get to school.
This is an issue that has been going on for decades but with the changes to the A1 coming at Tempsford, there is a window of opportunity to make the area far safer for locals. While it is going to take time, effort, and money from all concerned, I am pleased that the Parish and Town Councils are taking this matter seriously, going so far as to form a joint working group on the subject which I will meet with periodically to support.
For now, we are working to deliver a feasibility study for options including an underpass to go beneath the A1 and I have written to Active Travel England to see if they can provide funding to help with this initiative.
