On Wednesday, Richard visited Cotton End Forest School to meet with the Eco Council and hear about their contribution towards fighting climate change in the run up to COP26.

Richard Fuller, MP for North East Bedfordshire said:

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Cotton End Forest School on Tuesday and the professional PowerPoint presentation written and delivered by the school’s Eco Council.

It was great to learn about the environmental measures they have already put in place such as taps and lights that turn off automatically after a set time; limits in laptop charging times; ‘walk to school week’; solar panels, litter picks, the creation of bug hotels, compost bins for food and garden waste and the fact that every child in the school has planted a tree in their grounds.

They have also been thinking of ways they can be even greener, such as printing less, encouraging zero waste lunch boxes, making a greenhouse out of used plastic bottles to grow fruits and vegetables and creating homes for the local wildlife to enjoy.

The school has a number of fantastic outdoor facilities and it is clear that nature and the environment form part of their everyday learning experience.

Thank you to the teachers for arranging the visit and the Eco Council who impressed me with their confident and well-thought out presentation.
