Government plans to repeal the Legacy Act was the hot topic at the Veterans’ Breakfast hosted at the Yorkshire Grey Pub, Biggleswade when Richard visited last month.
Richard Fuller MP said:
Constituents who served in our armed forces had already spoken to me about their concerns with the expressed intention of the new Labour government to repeal an Act, passed by the last government, that drew a line on the conflicts in Northern Ireland, protecting our service personnel from litigation.
Veterans at the breakfast highlighted how painful this change would be especially for many who did as their country asked and who now, perhaps well into old age, will see the government step away from protecting them.
My colleague, David Davis MP, is leading parliamentary efforts to stop this action by the government. He has my full support.
