Before the House of Commons rose for summer recess, Richard continued his fight for rights of homeowners on privately managed estates by speaking in a debate on Freehold Estate Management Fees. His full contribution can be watched at https://youtu.be/CbNHC2V9X0s

Richard Fuller MP said:

Westminster Hall provided another opportunity for me to continue my campaign to make the Government introduce legislation to protect homeowners from excessive estate management charges and to rein in what is becoming an increasing problem for many residents in Bedfordshire, particularly those who have bought a new house within the last ten years.

The Minister seems supportive to my key points: rights equivalent to leaseholders to challenge charges that are imposed; reasonableness in the calculation of charges with more transparency, and a proper system of redress when residents are ripped off. Later in the debate I pressed the Minister to ensure that if the law does change, then home owners who currently face undue charges will be able to access any future system of redress to enable them to be reimbursed. The full debate can be read here.

Richard has met with a number of constituents across the constituency affected by this issue. At the start of this year, Richard raised the issue with the relevant Minister, then he wrote to the Prime Minister and he held a debate on freehold management charges. More information can be read here.
