On Wednesday, Richard, who is Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury, appeared on Newsnight to discuss the Chancellor's Spending Review.

Richard Fuller MP said:

Borrowing is running far above the plans the Chancellor inherited from the Conservatives and she should have taken action to fix the problems she has caused in the economy but instead she did what Labour always do and defaulted to high spending which in turn will mean more borrowing and more taxes.

And the Chancellor didn't tell us how she is going to pay for the reversal of the Winter Fuel Allowance, the expected change to the two child benefit cap on universal credit and the increase in defence spending.

This government is addicted to tax increases and more borrowing and will inevitably be back for more in the autumn. We would have made different choices entirely - it isn’t just about how much money you put in, it’s about how well you put pressure on the system to deliver efficiencies.
