This Back British Farming Day, Richard celebrated the British farmers and growers who work through rain and shine to produce the delicious ingredients that underpin the UK’s largest manufacturing sector, food and drink.
The day is an opportunity to champion all that British farmers and growers do for the nation, including producing food, caring for the countryside and providing jobs for rural communities. Richard met with farmers and growers in Parliament on the day and also visited Browns of Stagsden ahead of the day where he recorded this video.
Defra figures show that farming contributes more than £160m to the economy in Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire and around 2,000 people work on farms in Bedfordshire.
