On Thursday, the nation commemorated the 80th anniversary of VE Day, celebrating the end of the 2nd World War in Europe.
That evening, Richard Fuller MP attended the lighting of a VE Day Beacon in Podington.
Speaking afterwards, he said:
The Parish of Poddington marked VE Day in fine form starting with a traditional Sausage and Chips Supper followed by a speech from the Deputy Lord Lieutenant and a fantastic fireworks display.
Events continue for a couple of days more to demonstrate the commitment of Bedfordshire residents to our veterans and to those who gave so much for our freedoms.
On Sunday, Richard will be attending a Service of Thanksgiving and Celebration organised by the Bedford and District RBL Branch.
