On Wednesday, Richard spoke to a group of local businesses and charities via a zoom call. The roundtable was organised by Natwest and was an opportunity for businesses in North East Bedfordshire to discuss how they are facing the challenges thrown up by the pandemic.
Richard Fuller, MP for North East Bedfordshire and member of the Business Select Committee, said:
The roundtable was a fantastic opportunity to listen and share ideas with local businesses.
It was interesting to listen to concerns about long payment terms forced on small businesses by larger companies, which I will be taking up in Parliament as a member of the Business select committee.
During the meeting there were calls for more support for town centres and business rates reform, which are already underway. There were also early warning signs of the impact of inflation, particularly on input prices with businesses finding it hard to pass on increased costs.
Many thanks to NatWest for organising and to all participating businesses.
