From major projects like the new Universal Resort to the national economy, construction keeps our country moving and Richard was delighted to deliver the keynote political address at the Construction Plant-hire Association (CPA) Annual Conference earlier this month.
Commenting afterwards, he said:
I spoke about the vital role the construction sector plays in driving economic growth, creating jobs, and developing the skills our country needs - particularly for young people, who have been among the hardest hit by this government's policies.
On a personal note, I commented that my home county of Bedfordshire is certainly doing its bit to support the industry, with major projects such as the Black Cat Roundabout upgrade and Universal UK Resort helping to shape the future of our region.
The CPA is made up of many family-run businesses, and I was pleased to reaffirm the Conservative Party's commitment to repealing the Family Business Tax. I also highlighted the importance of ensuring better oversight and value for money in government spending on construction projects.
Thank you to the CPA for the invitation and for the important work its members do to build and maintain the infrastructure that keeps our country moving.
