Over the summer, Richard wrote to the Secretary of State for Transport requesting that improvements to the A1, south of the Black Cat Roundabout, be included in the Road Investment Strategy 3 (RIS3) for the period 2026-2031. Road Investment Strategies are the mechanism by which the Department for Transport considers improvements to the national strategic roads network.

You can read Richard's letter here and the Road Minister's reply here.

Richard Fuller MP said:

Successive governments have moved glacially from “review” to “review” of the A1 in Bedfordshire, but without meaningful plans for the roundabouts at Sandy and Biggleswade.

Whether or not any decision on Tempsford “unlocks” investment is still an open question!
