Richard recently met with Professor Paul Leinster CBE, who last year agreed to chair the North Bedfordshire water initiative to develop a coherent long-term plan for water resources in North Bedfordshire. Paul has considerable experience in this area and is well respected on environmental matters.
Richard Fuller MP said:
My first in depth conversation with Paul Leinster, since the North Bedfordshire Water group was established, more than confirmed my confidence in this project and in his leadership skills to help deliver change.
As a reminder there are three main objectives:
- to end the finger pointing between agencies that so infuriates constituents when flooding or other issues arise
- to provide a comprehensive assessment of flood risk for North Bedfordshire including the impact of Universal Studios and a new town at Tempsford should these go ahead; and
- to achieve a step change improvement in the quality of our two main waterways - the River Great Ouse and the Ivel.
I look forward to seeing the work of the group develop over the weeks and months ahead and help to make a material difference to people's lives.
