As many will now know, Lloyds Bank have announced that they will be closing their Biggleswade branch on 5th November 2025.
Commenting, Richard Fuller MP said:
Of course this is disappointing and I do have concerns about what implications this may have, particularly for those customers who are less comfortable with online banking services.
Lloyds' rationale is that many customers now choose to bank through their mobile app or online and as a result visits to the branch have fallen. The number of transactions by personal customers using this branch have apparently decreased by 51% over the last five years. When the branch closes, customers can continue to manage their money on their mobile app, online, by calling Lloyds, or in person at the local Post Office or by visiting their Community Banker.
A Community Banker will have set hours in a space in the local area, such as a library and can help customers with banking enquiries with the same knowledge, experience and access to systems as someone who works in a branch. This new service will be set up shortly, and more information about community bankers can be found at the Lloyds website here: https://www.lloydsbank.com/.../ban.../community-bankers.html
