Interruptions to utility supplies can be especially worrying for people who are older, have a disability or long term illness, or rely on medical equipment.

That’s why the Priority Services Register (PSR) is encouraging residents to sign up to its free, confidential service run by utilities (electricity, water and gas) and energy suppliers that serve our area.

The PSR provides extra help to people who may need it during an interruption to electricity, gas or water supply.

Benefits of the PSR include:

  • A dedicated phone number for emergencies
  • Updates on planned interruptions
  • Regular contact during unplanned cuts

They also work closely with partners such as local authorities, emergency services and the British Red Cross who can provide emergency support.

Being on the PSR doesn’t mean your utilities will be restored more quickly but it does mean your distribution network operator can tailor its support.

Signing up takes only a few minutes and can make a big difference in an emergency.  Utility providers and energy suppliers work together to make sure that constituents receive all the support services that are available through the PSR. By telling them once, they update your PSR request with all utilities and suppliers and they never share your details for marketing purposes.

You can register yourself or someone you care for via the website: www.ThePSR.co.uk. To find out if you are eligible, please visit https://www.thepsr.co.uk/#am-i-eligible
