On Sunday, after months of speculation, the Government confirmed that it will be proceeding with a new town in Tempsford.

This followed the publication of an independent report by the New Towns Taskforce which recommended 12 locations as potential new towns.

In its response, the government welcomed all 12 recommended locations and said it would begin building in at least three new towns in this Parliament. It also stated that sites at Tempsford, Crews Hill and Leeds South Bank looked to be the most promising.

Richard Fuller MP said:

Well now we know. Or at least my constituents in Tempsford no longer have to live in complete limbo about the future of the place they call home.

What a pity that, as local Parish Chair David Sutton has pointed out, nobody from the New Towns quango has bothered to talk to Tempsford residents.

As I have said many times in the past, if a government plans big changes to a community, they need to take people with them.

There are still many unknowns and residents quite rightly will have many questions, as do I.

So I have invited the Housing Secretary of State, Steve Reed, to meet with local residents so he can fully detail the government’s plans and address residents’ questions.
