In January, Richard spoke in the House of Commons about the urgent need for reform of the law regarding freehold management charges.
Richard raised the concern that freehold homeowners do not yet have the same rights as leaseholders to challenge excessive estate management fees and cited a lack of transparency and poor service by estate management companies.

The Government has committed to introduce legislation when Parliamentary time allows but since the debate, Richard has continued to press the Government to bring forward the promised legislation to improve the rights of freeholders to scrutinise and challenge excessive management fees.
Richard Fuller MP said:
"I know from my work with local councillors including Jim Weir, Jon Gambold, Sarah Gallagher and Steve Dixon that in areas with new housing there are all too often concerns about the way that management charges are being levied, usually without transparency and often for excessive amounts for the services actually being provided."
Earlier this month, Richard wrote to the Prime Minister to urge him to introduce legislation at the earliest possible opportunity. More than 30 MPs joined with Richard by signing his letter, a copy of which is below.
In addition, Richard has also secured a debate in Parliament on the 20th April which will be an opportunity for him to present the case for reform to the Minister during a 30 minute debate.
Future updates, including the response to the letter to the Prime Minister and details of the debate will be posted on Richard's website and if you are not already signed up to receive Richard's weekly e-newsletter, you can sign up on the following link so that you receive updates direct to your inbox: Richard Fuller | MP for North East Bedfordshire
