East West Rail launches online public events and virtual consultation rooms

EWR five options for Bedford to Cambridge

The East West Rail Company (EWR) is launching a series of virtual consultation rooms and online public events as part of the latest phase of its consultation on the five possible alignments from Bedford to Cambridge on the new Oxford to Cambridge line.

A series of virtual consultation rooms will provide information on each section of the line. These rooms will also host a series of 10 live chat sessions where members of the public will be able to discuss key topics directly with the project team.  These events can be accessed here and will take place at the following dates and times:

  • Tuesday 13 April 2-4pm
  • Wednesday 21 April 10am-12pm
  • Monday 26 April 10am-12pm
  • Tuesday 4 May 6-8pm
  • Thursday 13 May 10am-12pm
  • Saturday 22 May 10am-12pm
  • Monday 24 May 2-4pm
  • Saturday 29 May 2-4pm
  • Tuesday 1 June 6-8pm

EWR is also holding a series of online public events for communities right the way from Oxford to Cambridge. The sessions relevant to sections within North East Bedfordshire are:

Section C: Bedford

  • Wednesday 14 April  2-3pm join here
  • Wednesday 12 May  11am-12pm join here

Section D: Clapham Green to The Eversdens

  • Thursday 15 April  11am-12pm replaced by the event on 20 April
  • Tuesday 11 May 2-3pm join here
  • Tuesday 20 April 4-5 pm  join here *
  • Wednesday 21 April 7-8pm join here *

There are also two public events focused on customer experience and railway operations across the whole of the line

A dedicated phone line – the EWR Co telephone line  - will be available throughout the consultation period to enable those not wanting or not able to engage online or in writing, to speak to members of the Project team. The telephone number is 0330 134 0067.

You can have your say in the consultation here, which closes on 9 June 2021.

* Update 15th April: We understand there were technical difficulties during the Clapham Green to The Eversdens session this morning which meant many participants were unable to properly see or hear the presentation, causing it to be cut short. The webinar has been rescheduled for next week and an additional evening session organised as below:
