East Park Solar: Richard calls for urgent deadline extension to protect democratic process

Richard has written to the Planning Inspectorate to request an urgent extension to the upcoming Deadline 5 for the proposed 1,900-acre East Park Energy solar plant.

In a letter sent to the Examining Authority, Richard warned that the current timeline of less than 4 working days makes it difficult for local residents and interested parties to review the developer's latest submissions and respond to them.

Written submissions for the latest deadline, Deadline 4, were submitted on Friday 10 July, but were only published on the public portal yesterday with several documents from the applicant only published late afternoon today.

Because of these delays, local residents and campaign groups have been left with less than four working days to review the complex documents and draft a response before the next deadline this Tuesday, 21 July.

Richard Fuller MP said:

"Other recent solar scheme applications have typically had at least a month between these two deadlines. For this application, only 11 days were allocated and now this has effectively reduced to just three working days. In my view, an extension to deadline 5 is required to ensure a fair, transparent and democratic examination process."
