Pension Credit is a lifeline for our most vulnerable pensioners, worth an average of £3,500/year. 1,431 households in North East Bedfordshire are in receipt of Pension Credit, but some are still missing out on support they are entitled to.
Please check if you or someone you know could be eligible for Pension Credit by using the online Pension Credit calculator here: https://www.gov.uk/pension-credit-calculator.
Pension Credit tops up weekly income to a guaranteed minimum level of £201.05 a week for single pensioners or £306.85 for couples. It is a tax-free payment for those who have reached Pension Credit qualifying age, which is State Pension age, and live in Great Britain. Someone may still get Pension Credit if they have not paid National Insurance contributions; have some savings or a small pension; live with their grown-up family or own their own home.

It is great news that 1,431 households in North East Bedfordshire already claim Pension Credit, but it is important for everyone else in our area to claim all the help they are entitled to. If you work with people over State Pension age, or with those supporting them, or know anyone who might be eligible, then please encourage them to find out more.
