Richard recently visited Specsavers in Biggleswade to celebrate the opening of their Audiology service.

Sooner or later just about everyone needs to see the optician or the audiologist, as supplements like glasses and hearing aids become essential to allow us to continue to engage effectively with the outside world.
I was pleased to get the chance to visit Specsavers in Biggleswade in anticipation of the launch of their Audiology improvements. They operate in both the town centre and in Sainsbury’s and whilst at the town centre location I had a quick eye test and ear check-up and was given a clean bill of health.
As many of you will know, this level of care is essential to identify many diseases and conditions, from diabetes to brain tumours, years before other symptoms become apparent. During my visit I was told of one patient who was diagnosed with a brain tumour as a direct result of having an eye test at this very branch.
I enjoyed discussing the future of preventative healthcare and seeing all of the impressive hospital-grade equipment that they have been able to invest in. While it is a shame that audiological services currently require a GP referral, something I hope the Government will rectify soon, you can visit the opticians whenever you like and have a check-up.
Congratulations to Specsavers Biggleswade on the Audiology Launch. I’ll see you in two years for my next check-up.
