Central Bedfordshire Council is launching Flood Ready Together this autumn to help residents take simple and practical steps to protect themselves, their families and their homes from flooding. Flooding doesn’t just come from rivers. It can happen after heavy rain, from drains or sewers, or a mix of all three. The impact is the same if you are not ready.
Small actions now – like checking your own flood risk, putting practical measures into place, signing up for free Environment Agency alerts, and making a simple household plan – can make a big difference when it matters most.
To support this campaign, Central Bedfordshire Council is hosting free community drop in events, which will take place across Central Bedfordshire where residents can get practical advice from The National Flood Forum, Environment Agency, the Internal Drainage Board and Anglian Water and view local flood maps as well as pick up free resources.
One of these events will be taking place in the North Bedfordshire constituency at The Orchard Centre, Biggleswade from 3.00pm until 6.30pm on Thursday, 16th October.
