Earlier this month, Richard appeared on Annabel Amos's show on BBC Radio Northampton to discuss the tragic case of Cameron Arneaud who was killed in a road traffic accident by a driver who was in the country illegally and didn't have a legitimate license or insurance. Cameron's parents are Richard's constituents.
Richard Fuller MP said:
Cameron's parents are trying to change the insurance regulations which rely almost entirely on the honesty of drivers to tell the truth about whether or not they have a valid driving license. There is a voluntary scheme, MyLicence which many insurers use, however this is a voluntary scheme and we are pushing to have this mandated in the code of practice for motor insurers.
I also wrote to the Home Secretary on behalf of Cameron's parents to ask to have the perpetrator deported on his release from prison.
