A contract for Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire and Milton Keynes, with a total value of £51.4 million, has been signed with the broadband supplier CityFibre to deliver fast, reliable broadband to up to 25,700 premises. Approximately a quarter of these premises are in North East Bedfordshire.

This investment will bring gigabit-capable broadband to homes and businesses that would otherwise not be reached by suppliers’ commercial rollout plans. It will improve connectivity for some of the hardest to reach communities across the area, allowing residents to start a business, stay in touch with family and friends, and access all the opportunities that technology offers them regardless of where they live.

Richard Fuller MP said:

I am delighted that a Project Gigabit contract has been awarded in Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire and Milton Keynes, set to benefit 25,700 homes and businesses with approximately 6,000 of these based in my North East Bedfordshire constituency.

The broadband will be conducted by CityFibre, the UK’s largest independent full fibre platform, and is targeting rural areas that would otherwise be excluded from commercial rollouts. I am awaiting more details of the precise areas that will benefit from this rollout and will communicate that in due course.

Detailed planning will begin immediately with the first premises expected to be connected in early 2025.

I am meeting with CityFibre to understand what these plans mean for my constituents.
