April marked the beginning of AMP8, the next five-year business plan for Anglian Water. This programme is designed to make significant improvements in environmental performance, substantially reduce spills, and implement projects to future proof the infrastructure.

The first year of the plan (2025-2026) will see more than £2 billion invested across the region. Over £1.1 billion of this will be spent on capital delivery, with the remaining going towards maintaining their existing network and operations.

Richard Fuller MP said:

Planned investment over the next year includes a scheme to remove more phosphorous from wastewater at Great Barford Water Recycling Centre, which will help to improve river quality nearby. Anglian Water have also invited me to see the wetlands scheme in Everton in the summer.

At the heart of the £11 billion 5-year plan is a redoubling of efforts to tackle storm overflows, with £1 billion of funding being allocated into tackling this issue.
